Big Ocean's Historic Solo Concert in Japan: A Unique Sign Language Cheer Takes Center Stage

The world’s first deaf idol group, Big Ocean, has successfully wrapped up their first solo concert in Japan, marking another milestone in their extraordinary journey.

On March 9th, Big Ocean—comprising Chanyeon, Hyunjin, and Jiseok—held their first-ever solo concert, "Follow," at the Toyota Civic Cultural Hall in Nagoya, Japan. Despite not having officially debuted in Japan, the venue was filled to capacity, demonstrating their growing international fanbase.

A Night of Spectacular Performances

Big Ocean captivated the audience with an electrifying setlist that included signature songs and special performances prepared just for this monumental occasion. The concert opened with "BLOW", followed by powerful renditions of "brighT" and "빛 (Glow)", setting the stage on fire.

Adding a heartfelt touch, Hyunjin’s piano solo led into an adorable "aegyo battle" between Jiseok and Chanyeon, drawing enthusiastic cheers from fans.

As the night progressed, the trio mesmerized the audience with a reimagined version of the iconic "Stay With Me" from the Goblin OST and their emotional track "FLOW." However, what truly made this performance legendary was the debut of Big Ocean's one-of-a-kind sign language cheer.

The World's First Sign Language Cheer

For the first time in concert history, fans joined the artists in a synchronized sign language cheer, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle.

"We introduced sign language cheering for the first time. This is something truly unique to Big Ocean. Seeing our fans (known as 'Wave') cheer with synchronized signs felt like watching a perfectly choreographed dance. It was an experience of true unity, and we are incredibly grateful," the group shared.

Interactive Fan Engagement & Nostalgic Covers

The concert also featured a Q&A session, where Big Ocean answered questions submitted by fans beforehand. The interaction deepened their bond with the audience, making the night even more personal.

To surprise fans, Big Ocean performed BTS’s "Dynamite" and H.O.T.’s legendary hit "Candy." During the performance, they even approached the audience, handing out candies, creating a heartwarming moment reminiscent of classic K-pop fan interactions.

A Powerful Finale with a Lasting Message

To close the concert, Big Ocean performed sign-language versions of "SLOW" and "GLOW," leaving the audience in awe.

"People from all over the world traveled great distances to see us. We are beyond grateful and promise to continue bringing our best performances in the future."

With this groundbreaking concert, Big Ocean has once again shattered barriers, proving that music transcends all boundaries—be it sound, language, or even ability. Their journey is not just about making music; it's about making history.
